Field Hockey Collects Three Weekly Patriot League Awards

September 15, 2025

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After leading the Boston University field hockey team to a pair of wins over the weekend, including an upset of No. 4 Boston College, three Terriers have earned weekly awards from the Patriot League, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Senior Caroline O'Brien was named Offensive Player of the Week, freshman Delfi Coulo was selected as the Rookie of the Week and junior Sophie Ortyl earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

O'Brien had a hand in all five of BU's goals in the two wins, posting two goals and two assists in a 4-2 triumph over Quinnipiac on Friday before assisting on Coulo's 58th-minute winner in a thrilling 1-0 victory against BC.

Coulo's goal was her first as a Terrier and she also assisted on O'Brien's final goal against the Bobcats.

Ortyl picked up the second shutout of her career in impressive fashion, stopping all 10 shots she faced against the Eagles including six in the opening quarter. She also added five saves in the Quinnipiac win.

This is the second time that O'Brien has received Offensive Player of the Week accolades from the Patriot League as she was also honored in 2023 after her first collegiate hat trick. O'Brien currently leads the team in points (8) and assists (4) and is one of three players on the team with two goals. She has now had a hand in six straight BU goals as she earned her first point of the year on Sept. 5 against Vermont with an assist.

These are the first PL weekly honors for both Coulo and Ortyl.

The Terriers will continue their current homestand on Friday (Sept. 19) when they host American in the Patriot League opener. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
