After spending four years as the student manager of the Boston University women's basketball team, Howie Landau returns to the staff as a video coordinator for the 2012-13 season. Landau, who graduated cum laude in May 2012 with a degree in English and a minor in physical education, health education and coaching, is currently enrolled full-time in the Health Education graduate program in BU's School of Education.
As the video coordinator, Landau is responsible for organizing the film exchange program, editing and breaking down game and practice film and assisting with administrative and day-to-day duties.
The native of North Bellmore, N.Y., graduated from Wellington C. Mepham High School in 2008, where he was a four-year letter winning on the volleyball team. Landau earned All-County honors his junior and senior season and concluded his career with 2,000 assists.
Landau has dedicated his time to working several different basketball camps including serving as the Assistant Director of Pirate Basketball Camp in Bellmore, N.Y. Additionally, Landau was the student manager of the girl's basketball team under head coach Jim Mulvey, assisting with practice set-u and breakdown, statistics and on-court coaching while also serving as a practice player.
At Mepham, Landau was voted Most School Spirited and also received the honor of Most Outstanding Senior by the faculty and administration. He served as the president of Students Against Destructive Decisions, was the secretary of Odyssey of the Mind, "school news" editor of the newspaper, and was also a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.
