BOSTON - Sophomore
Caitlin Weimar grabbed a career-best 18 rebounds to go along with 16 points and four blocks to push the Boston University women's basketball team to a convincing 69-46 victory over American on Saturday afternoon at Case Gym.
The Terriers stay undefeated in Patriot League play at 3-0 and now have an even overall record of 7-7. The Eagles move to 8-4 on the year with a 1-1 conference record.

Sydney Johnson tallied 13 points and a game-best six assists while freshman
Alex Giannaros chipped in 11 points. Senior
Riley Childs was just shy of a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Eagles were paced by Taylor Brown and Jade Edwards, who notched 15 and 10 points, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After American scored the first basket of the game, the teams traded 6-0 runs, resulting in an early 8-6 edge for the visitors.
- BU then closed out the first quarter with eight straight points, capped by a buzzer-beating lay-up from Sophie Beneventine, to take a lead it would not relinquish.
- A 3-pointer by senior Riley Childs in the final minute of the opening half gave the home lead its largest lead yet at 32-16.
- The Terriers limited the Eagles to eight second-quarter points and added 14 of their own to take a 14-point lead into the break.
- American put together a solid third quarter with 17 points but BU held its ground and scored 16 during the frame to maintain a 13-point cushion at 48-35.
- The Eagles got a bucket on their first possession of the fourth, but BU squashed any hopes of a comeback by reeling off nine straight points, capped by a fast-break 3-pointer from sophomore Liz Shean, to take a commanding 57-37 lead.
- BU executed an impressive and efficient final quarter, shooting 6-of-8 from the floor while limiting American to a 5-for-21 effort.
GAME NOTES
- Weimar had a double-double by halftime with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- The Terriers limited the Eagles to 15-percent shooting (3-for-20) from behind the arc.
- BU has now won its first three Patriot League contests for the second time in as many years
- The Terriers have now won four of their past five meetings with American.
