WATERTOWN, Mass. – Remaining perfect at home, the Boston University women's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers (4-1) won all three doubles matches by a combined score of 18-6 and then captured all six singles points, including three in straight sets, to improve upon last year's 5-2 victory over the Rams (0-30.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Alex Angyalosy and freshman Erica Di Battista opened with a 6-0 win in the top doubles slot.
- Junior Emily Kim and sophomore Shelly Yaloz clinched the doubles point, 6-2, at line 2 before juniors Katya Martens and Lily Burchell completed the sweep, 6-4, at line 3.
- Angyalosy dropped the fewest games in singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 4 slot.
- Making her first appearance as a nationally ranked competitor, the No. 100 Di Battista broke late in each of her sets for a 7-5, 6-4 win over Erin Chratian.
- Burchell won a hard-fought first set at line 3 and cruised in the second for a 7-6(5), 6-1 win.
- Both Kim (#2) and Martens (#5) rallied from a set down to win their respective singles match.
- Freshman Steph Nguyen added a point when her opponent was unable to play due to injury.

- The Terriers will next visit the Bears on Saturday, Feb. 22, with the ESPN3 stream set to begin at 12 p.m.
- Brown pulled out a 5-2 victory last season.
