Despite a career night by Kara Sheftic, the Boston University women's basketball team could not make up for an early deficit and dropped a 67-56 decision at Navy on Thursday night in Alumni Hall.
Sheftic recorded her first career double-double, scoring a personal best 20 points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds to lead the Terriers (0-14, 0-3 PL). Navy (7-7, 1-2 PL) claimed its first Patriot League victory with the win.

The Terriers were successful from the field, shooting 40.8 percent overall including 45.8 percent in the second half. Navy's first half shooting success (57.7 percent) helped them to a 50 percent overall mark.
Navy was led by Taylor Dunham who scored 26 points, bolstered by 4-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Sarita Condie also finished in double-figure scoring thanks to her 3-of-7 three-point shooting.
The game began with close back-and-forth play for the first five minutes but Navy put together a 12-2 run over the final five minutes of the first quarter to pull away with the 20-8 lead going into the second period.
Sheftic began to dominate inside during the second quarter, tallying eight points in the paint. She finished with 12 points and five rebounds by halftime. The Terriers struggled to catch up to the Midshipmen, however, and Navy built its largest lead of the game, 18 points, at the end of the first half.
Both teams struggled to scored throughout the third quarter but BU found a slight edge, outscoring the Mids, 9-5. Sheftic recorded her double-double with her 10th rebound of the night at the end of the third quarter.
Hope and Green entered into a shootout with Navy to start the final period with each team netting 3-pointers on three consecutive possessions. The Terriers kept pace with the Mids but ultimately could not make up for the early deficit and settled for the 67-56 loss.
BU is back in action on Saturday when the Terriers travel to Lafayette for a 2 p.m. game, which will be aired live on the Patriot League Network.
