January 27, 2024

HANOVER, N.H. – The Boston University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 contest at Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon. In a match that took four hours, freshman Uma Bakaityte and sophomore Emily Zhao picked up singles wins.

While Dartmouth went up early by securing the doubles point, each court was closely contested. Matches at line one and three went to a tiebreak before the Big Green could secure the doubles point.

BU gave up two points in singles and was down 3-0 but did not give up the fight. Bakaityte secured the Terriers their first point with a win at the No. 4 spot in a 6-1, 6-4 decision. She was quickly followed by Zhao who picked up a win of her own at line five. After winning the first set, she bounced back from a second set loss to secure BU's second point in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 decision.

Soon thereafter, Dartmouth clinched the match in a three-set comeback win at the No. 3 spot. The Big Green took the final singles court win to close out the match at Dartmouth five, BU two.

The Terriers will continue their weekend slate with a 7 p.m. match against Bryant on Sunday.
