WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team posted a commanding 6-1 victory over URI on Friday afternoon. The Terriers won on all three doubles courts and took five singles matches in straight sets in the win.
 
Doubles was competitive, but BU quickly solidified the point. Grad student Shelly Yaloz and junior Kaitlin Tan took down their opponents 6-3 and were quickly followed by sophomores Sydney Sharma and Nina Gulbransen who also won 6-3. Junior Victoria Carlsten and freshman Navya Vadlamudi wrapped up with a win in the No. 2 spot 6-4 result and remain unbeaten in doubles this dual season.
 
URI grabbed the first point in singles in the No. 6 spot, but BU would remain dominant through the rest of the match. With Tan and Carlsten taking straight-sets wins at the Nos. 4 and 2 spots, respectively, Yaloz quickly secured the win for BU. She took down her URI opponent 6-3, 6-2 to give the Terriers the win. 
 
Play continued on the remaining courts which all went to the Terriers. Vadlamudi and senior Erica Di Battista both recorded wins in straight sets to bring the final score to BU 6, URI 1.
 
BU will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 4) when it travels for a noon matchup at Bryant.
