BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team is set to begin the 2023 season with a home matchup against Merrimack on Saturday (Feb. 11) at 1 p.m. The game kicks off BU's 36th varsity season.

Saturday's tilt will be the first of 17 games on the schedule this season, eight of which are at home. Nine of the games scheduled are Patriot League contests.

Fans attending the game can receive a schedule poster and schedule magnet, while supplies last. There is free youth admission (8th grade and below) and comp admission to women's basketball and women's hockey ticket holders.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU has 25 returners this season, 16 of which started in at least one game.
- Junior Matty Spaeth and senior Lauren Kaye both return as the top scorers for the Terriers in the 2022 season. They had a combined 53 goals across the 17-game slate.
- Kaye was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team following the conclusion of the season.Â
- Senior Jennifer Barry also received two postseason honors in the IWLCA All-Region Second Team and was an Inside Lacrosse Third Team All-American.
- The Terriers also have eight freshmen join them this season.
- Head Coach Lauren Morton (CAS '08) returns for her fifth season at the helm.
- Assistant Coach Maria Auth is back for her second season. Shay Clevenger joins the program for her first year as an assistant coach.
- Senior Jennifer Barry was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team. She led the Terriers last season in draw controls, setting the single-season record for both BU and the Patriot League.
- In the fall, BU faced opponents in UConn, Vermont, Princeton, Delaware, UMass, Albany, Marist and Dartmouth over the course of the fall ball schedule.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Saturday's game is also Merrimack's first of the season.
- In 2022, the Warriors went 4-12, including a 2-5 record on the road.
- Merrimack boasts seven freshmen and 22 returners, who are led by second-year Head Coach Jen Fox Sargent.
- Of the Warriors' three All-NEC honorees, only senior Kelly Corrigan returns.

- In the 2022 season, BU topped Merrimack 17-15 on the road.Â
- Last season's game was the only meeting between the Terriers and Warriors.
