BOSTON – Heading on the road for the fourth time in five contests, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Davidson on Tuesday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
The Terriers are looking to carry momentum from last Thursday's 95-79 home victory against Bryant, while the Wildcats are focused on bouncing back from Friday's 70-68 loss at East Tennessee State.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- In the win over the Bulldogs, six Terriers scored in double figures for the third time under 13th-year head coach Joe Jones. BU hit the mark against Northern Illinois in 2021 and at UMBC in 2013 after previously accomplished the feat in 2003.
- Freshman Kyrone Alexander earned BU's first Patriot League Rookie of the Week award since Jonas Harper ('23) was honored at the end of the 2018-19 campaign thanks to a 17-point and three-assist performance against Bryant.
- Junior Ethan Okwuosa posted BU's first double-double of the season (13 pts., 10 rebs.) in the same contest, while sophomore Otto Landrum tallied a career-high 19 points.
- Alexander leads the Terriers at 10.0 ppg with six 3-pointers, while senior Miles Brewster (8.3 ppg) has a team-high 11 assists alongside nine steals.
- Both Landrum (5.5 rpg) and Okwuosa (4.8 rpg) have combined for five of BU's seven blocks while averaging an identical 7.8 ppg.
- Through four contests, BU is averaging 62.8 ppg and 37.9 FG% while holding teams to 69.8 ppg and 42.1 FG%.
- The Terriers have led at the half in two of the three road losses.
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
- Davidson is 1-0 at home with an 86-63 win over Washington and Lee after going 7-8 last season and 16-16 overall.
- The Wildcats followed the home victory with a 64-61 win against Maryland at the Asheville Championship before dropping a 68-65 decision to Clemson in the same event.
- 6-foot-7 forward Bobby Durkin leads Davidson at 12.3 ppg, while 6-foot-10 forward David owns 11.3 ppg with a team-high 6.0 rpg alongside 6-foot-4 guard Grant Huffman (8.5 ppg, 4.5 apg).
- The Wildcats are averaging 70.8 ppg and 41.4 FG% while holding opponents to 65.5 ppg and 39.6 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU will face Davidson for the second time in program history and first since earning an 87-69 victory back in 1955-56 during a three-day tournament in Charlotte, N.C.
- The Terriers are 1-1 in North Carolina under head coach Joe Jones, earning a 65-58 win at Elon in 2018 and dropping a 77-73 decision at NC State in 2016.
- BU's most memorable experience in the state occurred during the 1959 NCAA tournament (Charlotte, N.C.), when the Terriers upset then-No. 18 Navy in the Sweet 16 and came up just short to NBA Hall of Famer Jerry West and West Virginia in the Elite Eight, 86-82.
