BOSTON – As part of the opening weekend for Patriot League play, the Boston University women's soccer program heads to Lafayette on Saturday (Sept. 17). Opening kick is set for 2 p.m.
BU, the reigning Patriot League regular season champions, faces off against the Leopards in its Patriot League lidlifter for the second consecutive season. The Terriers will play on the road for their Patriot League opener for the first time since 2018.
Lafayette will play in just its second home contest since Aug. 29. The Leopards are 2-1 at home this year, but 0-4-1 elsewhere.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- In its last match on Sept. 11, BU fell on the road at New Hampshire, 4-1.
- Freshman Giulianna Gianino scored her third goal of the season in the 53rd minute to knot the game at 1-1, but the Wildcats ended the contest with three unanswered goals.
- Gianino leads the team with three goals, and shares the team lead with junior Abigail McNulty with six points.
- McNulty and junior Lily Matthews each have a team-best two assists.
- Sophomore Morgan Fagan has tallied all five of her points in 2022 in the last five matches.
- The Terriers lead the Patriot League and rank 38th in the nation with 6.5 corner kicks per game. BU has generated six or more corners in five games this year.
- In its first nine seasons as a Patriot League member, BU is 53-17-10 against conference foes.
- The Terriers have had a winning league record in eight of those nine regular seasons.

- Last season, Lafayette tallied a 3-6 Patriot League record, going 5-10 overall.

SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday marks the 11th all-time meeting between BU and Lafayette in a series that began when the Terriers joined the Patriot League in 2013.
- The Terriers are 8-1-1 in the rivalry, having only lost in 2019. That record is 2-1-1 in Easton, Pa.
- BU has outscored Lafayette 25-5 all-time.
- Last year, BU triumphed 2-1 at Nickerson Field on Sept. 18.
