WEST POINT, N.Y. – Spending the weekend at Army's Malek Tennis Center, the Boston University women's tennis team opened with a 7-0 victory over Lehigh on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers (10-7, 3-0 PL) won their fifth straight match by sweeping through doubles with a combined score of 12-3 and then capturing four singles points in straight sets. The Mountain Hawks (5-9, 2-5 PL) were unable to field a full team and had to forfeit at lines 5 and 6 in singles.
Freshman
Sydney Sharma dropped just two games on the day, as she teamed with sophomore
Victoria Carlsten for a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles and then cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at in the No. 4 singles slot. Carlsten followed up on the doubles win with a 6-4, 6-0 victory in the top match.
Sophomore
Kaitlin Tan posted a 6-3 win alongside senior
Shelly Yaloz at No. 1 doubles and cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Junior
Erica Di Battista completed BU's sixth shutout of the season with a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 3 slot.
BU will next face the weekend host Black Knights on Sunday (April 10) at 12 p.m.
