WORCESTER, Mass. – After recognizing its six seniors, the Boston University women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory at Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.
With their fourth sweep of the season, the Terriers improve to 6-1 (2-0 PL), while the Crusaders drop to 0-5 (0-4 PL).
Five of the seniors were able to compete in singles action and dropped just nine combined games to complete the sweep after winning 18 of 20 games in doubles.
Seniors
Emily Kim and
Lily Burchell first teamed for a 6-1 win at line 1 to help Kim reach the 100-win (singles + doubles) milestone. Burchell followed up with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 singles victory at line 2 to pull within four wins of the same milestone, as Kim earned a 6-3, 6-1 win in the top slot.
Fellow classmates
Dani Blaser and
Mia Wallace posted a 6-0 doubles win at line 3 and then dropped just one game apiece in singles at lines 4 and 6, respectively.
Freshmen
Kaitlin Tan and
Victoria Carlsten completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 score in the No. 2 slot. Junior
Shelly Yaloz blanked her opponent at line 3 in singles, and senior
Alex Angyalosy rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win at line 5.
After competing in their final match of the season in Massachusetts, BU will next end the regular season against Navy at Army with a 2 p.m. start on Saturday, April 24.
