BOSTON – After recognizing the senior class, the Boston University men's soccer team rolled to a 3-1 victory over Patriot League in-state rival Holy Cross on Wednesday night at Nickerson Field.

Quinn Matulis and freshman
Brian Hernandez, the Terriers (4-9-2, 3-4-2 PL) scored three goals for the third time in four games and ended their season with momentum for the 2022 campaign, as they posted a 3-1-2 record over the last six contests.
The Crusaders (8-7-3, 5-3-1 PL) entered the matchup with an opportunity to grab the top seed for the upcoming Patriot League tournament, but junior
Francesco Montali made a season-high seven saves to claim the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montali made his first stop in the seventh minute.
- The Terriers took the lead for good in the 23rd minute when Rosen made a run into the box and fired a hard low shot inside the left post.
- In the 33rd minute, sophomore Andrew Rent received a corner from Matulis and maneuvered around multiple defenders to blast an attempt toward the net, but Jimmy Joyce made a diving save.
- Montali made his second save at 39:25 to help BU enter the locker room with a 1-0 lead.
- The Terriers quickly doubled the lead in the 49th minute by drawing a foul and watching Matulis convert on the penalty kick with a low shot attempt past Joyce.
- The teams went back-and-forth the rest of the game with a combined nine corner kicks.
- BU put the game away in the 87th minute when freshman Daniel Rosario played the ball up the sideline to Hernandez, who ran toward the box and sent a shot off the diving Joyce for the 3-0 lead.
- Holy Cross avoided the shutout at 88:43 after Jon Klein headed in a long service pass from Max Krause.
GAME NOTES
- BU recognized Nate Cole, Miles Dycaico, Peter Kargbo, Florian Rieder and Michael Stone in the pregame Senior Day ceremony.
- Dycaico earned his second assist of the year on Rosen's goal, while Rosario became the 11th Terrier to earn a point.
- Both Hernandez and Rosen netted their third goals of the season.
- Matulis ends the season as the team leader in both goals (5) and points (11).
- The Terriers won their last four games at Nickerson Field by a combined score of 9-2.
- BU improved to 14-4-1 all-time in the series to avenge this past spring's 2-1 loss at Holy Cross that saw the Crusaders net the game winner with 18 seconds left in regulation.
