Dartmouth Fends Off Women's Tennis, 5-2

WATERTOWN, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team captured the doubles point and competed in four three-set singles matches before ultimately coming up short to Dartmouth, 5-2, on Saturday evening at the Mount Auburn Club.

Avenging last year's 4-3 home loss, the Big Green improved to 6-5, while the Terriers fell to 5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior Emily Kim and sophomore Shelly Yaloz opened with a 6-3 win in the top doubles match, while Dartmouth posted a 6-4 victory at line 2.
  • Junior Lily Burchell and freshman Sofia Kostirko helped BU clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 win in the No. 3 slot.
  • Dartmouth posted straight-sets victories at lines 6 and 4, as the other four contests required a third set.
  • Yaloz stumbled in the second set but rebounded in the third for a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win at line 2 against All-Ivy League First Team member Racquel Lyn.
  • Ranked 116th nationally by the ITA, freshman Erica Di Battista split a pair of tiebreakers before falling in the third set for a hard-fought 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 defeat.
  • Kim (#3) and junior Alex Angyalosy (#5) both won a set before dropping 6-4 decisions in their respective third set.
NEXT UP: SPRING BREAK TRIP
