BOSTON – Concluding its season-opening two-game homestand, the Boston University men's basketball team will host SUNY Poly on Saturday with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.

The matchup marks the first ever between the two programs and BU's first against the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is coming off a hard-fought 72-67 loss to Northeastern in which the Huskies broke a 65-65 deadlock with 35 seconds left in regulation.
  • Making his first appearance in two years, sophomore Walter Whyte drained four 3-pointers en route to a career-high 23 points with seven rebounds.
  • Sophomore Alex Vilarino added 17 points and career-tying six rebounds while shooting 8-of-11 from the field.  
  • Named to the Lou Henson "Mid-Major Player of the Year" Award preseason watch list, senior Max Mahoney was plagued by foul trouble in the first half and finished with eight points.
  • The Terriers shot 49.1 percent from the field after finishing last season at 48.0 FG%, the program's best mark since 1983-84.
SCOUTING SUNY POLY
  • Formed in 1966, the SUNY Polytechnic Institute is located in Utica, New York.
  • The NEAC runner-up Wildcats went 15-13 last season with a 10-6 mark in conference play and 91-73 title game loss to Morrisville St.
  • All-Conference First Team honoree and 6-foot-7 forward Josh Gregory nearly averaged a double-double last season at 21.1 ppg and 9.6 rpg while shooting 46.3 percent from the field.
  • 6-foot-4 forward Tyshaun Copper is the No. 2 returning scorer at 7.4 ppg and 52.4 FG%.
  • As a team last season, the Wildcats averaged 73.5 ppg and 43.3 FG% while holding opponents to 73.7 ppg and 41.1 FG%.
