BOSTON – Seeking its sixth consecutive Patriot League tournament berth, the Boston University men's soccer team will conclude the regular season at Army West Point on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. start time.
The Terriers are currently outside looking in at the six-team event with nine points for eighth place in the PL standings. They are however just one point behind three teams (Bucknell, American and Colgate). All 10 teams will be competing at the same time Wednesday night with the tournament starting Saturday.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU has won four of its last six games, including a 1-0 double overtime victory over then-No. 22 Navy, with identical 3-0 losses to Loyola Maryland (home) and Bucknell (away).
- The Terriers last claimed a road win at American (2-1) back on Oct. 11.
- Senior Matt McDonnell remains the team leader with seven goals while classmate Satchel Cortet has a pair of overtime goals.
- Sophomore Kari Petursson, freshman Marc Roura and junior Zion Balogun are the three Terriers to have earned at least one goal and assist this year.
- Junior goalkeeper Michael Stone owns 0.701 save percentage and 1.64 goals against average with shutouts over the Midshipmen and Harvard.
- Opponents are averaging 1.7 more shots while posting 74-60 advantage in corner kicks.
SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
- Coming off a 2-0 loss at American, the Black Knights are ninth in the PL standings at six points ... They are 3-4-0 at home following 6-1 win over Holy Cross back on Oct. 20.
- Keenan O'Shea leads Army at 13 points with five goals and three assists ahead of Oscar Pereira (3g) and Christian Takaki (1g,3a).
- Justin Stoll has started nine games at net, posting 0.605 save percentage and 1.86 goals against average, while Jacob Suppiah has claimed 0.88 GAA and .750 save percentage in six starts.
- Army is averaging 2.5 more shots than opponents with 104-70 advantage in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers own an 8-2-2 advantage in a series that dates back to 1978 ... They are 5-1-2 since joining the Patriot League.
- Last year during the regular season at Nickerson Field, Petursson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 12th minute.
- Army took BU in the PL first around matchup last season to a 0-0 draw and then eliminated the Terriers via penalty kick shootout.
