BOSTON – Before embarking on a six-game road trip, the Boston University men's basketball team will host New Hampshire on Saturday with the NESN broadcast slated to begin at 4 p.m.
The former America East rivals are meeting for the sixth straight season after the Terriers joined the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 1-1 at home so far with a 91-63 win over SUNY Poly and 72-67 loss to defending CAA champion Northeastern.
- The Terriers are looking to bounce back from Wednesday's 62-47 loss at defending America East champion Vermont.
- Following matchups against Vermont and UNH, the Terriers will have two more contests remaining against the America East with visits planned to Binghamton (Dec. 7) and UMass Lowell (Dec. 21).
- After being held below 30 percent shooting for the first time in seven years by the Catamounts, BU is shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 34.3 percent in 3-point territory while holding opponents to 45.1 FG% and 26.1 3FG%, respectively.
- Reigning Patriot League Player of the Week Walter Whyte leads the Terriers at 18.3 ppg and is second in rebounding at 6.0 rpg, just behind senior Max Mahoney (6.7 rpg, 9.0 ppg).
- Junior Andrew Petcash (7.7 ppg) is 8-of-9 from the field and 7-of-8 behind the arc to open the season, while classmate Javante McCoy (6.3 ppg) leads BU in assists at 3.3 apg.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Wildcats are 2-1 to start the season with hard-fought 74-61 loss at St. John's following an 87-83 win over Holy Cross and 93-29 victory against Curry College.
- 6-foot-5 forward Nick Guadarrama leads UNH at 19.7 ppg and 12.0 rpg with Sean Sutherlin (13.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg), Mark Carbone (11.3 ppg) and Chris Lester (10.3 ppg) also averaging double figures in points.
- UNH is averaging 80.3 ppg and 47.4 FG% while holding opponents to 62.0 ppg and 33.7 FG%.
- The Wildcats are also out-rebounding opponents 46.0-34.7 through three games.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers are 100-39 all-time against UNH in a series that dates back to 1908-09 and are 7-2 under head coach Joe Jones following last year's 82-53 win in Durham, New Hampshire.
- BU is riding a four-game win streak with the three previous victories decided by a combined nine points, including a 73-69 home victory in 2016.
- Last year, McCoy flushed a pair of 3-pointers to spark a 13-0 game-opening run that helped the Terriers pull away for the 82-53 victory.
- BU shot over 52 percent in the contest and held UNH to 29.2 percent.
