BOSTON – The first road trip of the season will be a short one, as the Boston University men's soccer team will visit rival Boston College on Monday afternoon with action slated to begin at 5 p.m.
The Terriers are seeking their first win following Friday's 2-0 home loss to Rhode Island, while the Eagles are coming off a 2-1 win at Quinnipiac.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers were selected to finish second in the Patriot League after finishing 6-2-1 last season and making their third PL semifinal appearance in four years.
- BU returns five of its six 2017 All-PL honorees, including leading scorers Toti Knutsson (3g,5a) and Matt McDonnell (4g).
- Head coach Neil Roberts is in his 34th season at the helm and has led the Terriers to 14 NCAA appearances, including most recently in 2015.
- BU went 4-5-2 in road games last season with all four wins occurring in Patriot League action.
- Sophomore Austin D'Anna led BU with three shot attempts against the Rams after totaling nine last season in 19 games ... He ended his freshman campaign with three goals.
- 2017 All-PL honoree Mike Bernardi tallied four saves against the Rams on Friday.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
- The Eagles were selected to finish sixth in the ACC's Atlantic Division after posting a 6-10-1 overall record and 1-6-1 conference mark.
- BC was more successful at home with a 4-6-0 record, claiming wins over Providence, Syracuse, UConn and Quinnipiac.
- After totaling a team-high nine goals last season, Simon Enstrom got to work early this past Friday in the season opener with two first-half goals against the Bobcats.
- Quinnipiac cut the deficit in half in the 82nd minute, but the Bobcats couldn't net the equalizer for the loss despite having a 10-6 advantage in shots.
- Freshman keeper Joe Fryatt joined BC from England and needed just one save for the win.
SERIES HISTORY
- Boston College owns a 27-18-8 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1967.
- The Eagles are 16-2-1 over the last 19 meetings with BU last winning in 2012 on the road, 1-0.
- Last year, BC prevailed, 4-0, with two goals in each half despite the Terriers posting a 20-12 advantage in shot attempts.
- Callum Johnson struck first in the 21st minute and assisted on another score, while Younes Boudadi had a pair of helpers.
