BOSTON – Shooting 50 percent from the field, the No. 2-seed Boston University men's basketball team eliminated No. 7 Loyola Maryland, 64-60, on Thursday night at Case Gym. With the victory, the Terriers advance to their first semifinal appearance in three years and will host No. 3 Lehigh on Sunday (March 5) at 12 p.m.

THE TURNING POINT
- Trailing 62-60, the Greyhounds grabbed the defensive rebound following a contested 3-point miss from the Terriers with 26 seconds remaining but were unable to hit a field goal against a swarming Terrier defense.
- Following two contested jumpers, sophomore Kyle Foreman grabbed the defensive rebound with nine seconds remaining and hit two free throws to push the lead to 64-60.
- Senior and 2017 All-PL Second Team member Justin Alston sealed the win by blocking a layup attempt from Jarred Jones, also a member of the second team.
THE SETUP
- 2017 Patriot League All-Rookie Team honoree Tyler Scanlon flushed a 3-pointer to give the Terriers an early 9-0 lead.
- The Terriers led by double-digits for most of the first half and went into the locker room ahead, 35-22, thanks to junior Eric Johnson's steal and Scanlon's layup with 40 seconds remaining.
- BU extended the lead to 41-25 at 16:18 in the second on junior Will Goff's 3-pointer and had their final double-digit lead of the game at 8:08 (53-43) on Alston's layup.
- However, the Greyhounds went 5-of-9 from three during the final 20 minutes, including Walker's trey following Alston's bucket.
- Walker hit two free throws at 1:25 to cut the deficit to 60-58 and came right back with a layup at the 50-second mark in response to another strong post move by Alston.
GAME NOTES
- The Terriers shot 50.0 percent from the field and held Loyola to 36.0 percent while also outscoring the Greyhounds in both points in the paint (36-22) and off turnovers (19-15).
- BU improved to 8-0 all-time in conference quarterfinals as a No. 2 seed.
- The Terriers never trailed to claim their fifth wire-to-wire win of the season.
NEXT UP: LEHIGH
- The No. 2 Terriers will next host No. 3 and preseason favorite Lehigh on Sunday (March 5) at 12 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network.
- A runner-up last season, Lehigh edged No. 6 Colgate, 77-72, to advance to the semifinals.
- BU and the Mountain Hawks both finished the conference season at 12-6, but the Terriers owned the tiebreaker due to a sweep.
