PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Boston University women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision in a tightly-contested match at Brown on Saturday afternoon.
After winning two of three doubles contests for the first point, the Bears claimed three singles points to improve to 7-4 with the Terriers falling to 7-5.
Reigning Patriot League Player of the Week and freshman Iryna Kostirko held off a late charge by 2014 All-Ivy League honoree Hannah Camhi for a 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 singles victory in the No. 3 slot.
Sophomore Barbara Rodriguez also had an impressive win at No. 4, beating Ammu Mandalap, 6-3, 7-6(7).
In the top two slots, Brown prevented BU from gaining confidence with identical 6-4 first-set wins before finishing with straight-set victories. 91st-ranked Dayna Lord led the Bears by knocking off junior Johanna Hyoty, 6-4, 6-1.
