BALTIMORE - The No. 20 Boston University men's soccer team remained the lone unbeaten team in the Patriot League standings but left Loyola Maryland with only one point Saturday afternoon, as the Greyhounds escaped with a 1-1 draw off a 90th minute goal.

With their first-ever tie as a member of the Patriot League, the Terriers move to 10-3-2 (5-0-1 PL). Fellow second-year member Loyola now sits at 5-6-3 (2-3-1 PL) after earning their second draw of the season against a ranked squad following a 1-1 tie at then-No. 21 UMBC back on Sept. 20.

Despite the absence of senior team points leader Dominique Badji (7-3=17), BU got on the board first in the 14th minute. Though not officially awarded an assist, sophomore Duff Bedrosian had a critical role in the score, as he sent a beautiful diagonal pass toward sophomore Felix De Bona at the top of the box. De Bona then quickly played a short pass toward the right side to senior Jordan Barker and seconds later finished the give-and-go for the 1-0 advantage.

The Terriers kept the pressure up on Loyola for the next several minutes but could not find a second goal, as Matt Sanchez saved a header from senior Parker Powell at 19:05 and hard shot from De Bona at 21:49.

BU entered the locker room with a 1-0 lead and 6-5 advantage in shots. Freshman David Amirani came out attacking early in the second with a shot on net at 46:57, and redshirt-junior Mac McGuire went wide at 56:33.

Senior Nick Thomson stopped four shots in the game, including what looked to be Loyola's last attempt of the game at 66:35. However, the Greyhounds pressured the Terriers in the final five minutes of regulation by drawing two yellow cards from BU and eventually found the equalizer in the last attempt of regulation off the head of Joseph Cahalan at 89:23.

He drove the ball just inside the right post from eight yards out on a cross from John Toher to send the contest to overtime. Both Thomson and Sanchez had one save apiece in the extra time for the 1-1 draw.

Loyola ended the game ahead in shots, 13-10, despite the Terriers owning a 6-1 lead in corner kicks. BU though had more attempts on net by an 8-5 margin.

Following the contest, the Terriers will return home and host Colgate on Wednesday (Oct. 29) at 7 p.m.
