NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Highlighted by junior Johanna Hyoty's fourth-round appearance, the Boston University women's tennis team resumed its fall schedule after a month-long break at the ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Yale over the weekend.

Last season, the Terriers managed just two singles wins off the racket of junior Lauren Davis. In 2014, BU more than doubled the output, collecting five behind four women.

Seeded in the main draw, Hyoty received a first-round bye and then claimed a 6-2, 7-6(2) victory over Boston College. She then held off a late charge by Brown for a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win to set up a Round of 16 match-up with Yale's 103rd-nationally ranked Hannah Yu.

The two players went back and forth in a hard-fought first set with Yu coming out the victor in the tiebreaker. The Bulldog carried the momentum into the second set to eliminate Hyoty, 7-6(4), 6-3.

Junior Lauren Davis and freshman Iryna Kostirko both collected a singles win against Rutgers and St. John's, respectively, before being eliminated in straight sets.

Sophomore Barbara Rodriguez tried to join her teammates in the main draw but came up just short during qualifying. She cruised past Quinnipiac, 6-3, 6-1, and then fell in a close decision to Columbia, 7-5, 6-3.

The Terriers also had two teams in the main doubles draw, but both were eliminated in the first round.

BU will next compete at Dartmouth's Big Green Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
