AMHERST, Mass. - After winning a tough battle for the doubles point, Massachusetts prevailed with a 5-2 home victory over the Boston University women's tennis team on Thursday afternoon.

Improving to 11-7, the Minutewomen won the No. 1 doubles match against sophomore Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis and junior Jessi Linero, 9-7. Senior Monika Mical and freshman Sami Lieb tied doubles with an identical score of 9-7 in the No. 3 slot.

UMass captured the doubles point by shutting out junior Vivien Laszloffy and senior Petra Santini in the tiebreaker for a critical 9-8(0) victory at No. 2.

Laszloffy rebounded from the tough loss by not dropping a single game in a dominating 6-0, 6-0 performance over Yuliana Motyl at the top singles spot. Linero provided BU the other point by rallying from a set down for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory at No. 3.

Sophomore Amelia Martinez tried to duplicate Linero's success at No. 6, but Chanel Glasper pulled out the second set tiebreaker to prevent any chance of a rally rally in a 6-2, 7-(2) victory.

The Terriers (6-10) will next play at Boston College on Tuesday, April 10, with action set to begin at 2 p.m.
