BOSTON - Hosting its first of two matches this weekend, the Boston University women's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Buffalo on Saturday afternoon at the Track and Tennis Center. Sweeping through doubles and capturing five of the six singles points, the Terriers improve to 2-0, while the Bulls drop to 0-3.

BU was near-perfect in doubles, dropping a total of three games in the three matches. After teaming with sophomore Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis at the top spot for a 8-0 win, junior Jessi Linero pulled out a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 5 singles slot against Miranda Podlas.

Senior Petra Santini swept Annamaria Candanoza, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6, while freshman Sami Lieb and junior Vivien Laszloffy dropped just two games each in their respective contests.

After dropping the first set in a tiebreaker at No. 3, senior Monika Mical rallied for a 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 10-3 win over Tamara Markovic. Competing in the No. 1 spot, Athanasiadis also forced a third set after dropping the first but eventually fell, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1, to Tanvi Shah.

The Terriers will return to action on Sunday (Feb. 5) against St. John's with action set to begin at 12 p.m.
