Results

ALLSTON, Mass. - Highlighted by freshman Kim McCallum's title victory, the Boston University women's tennis team had four Terriers record top-three finishes in their respective singles flight during the Harvard Invitational over the weekend.

McCallum kicked the event off in dominating fashion with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against NJIT's Hannelore MacDonald. After a tough first set, she cruised in the second to a 6-4, 6-1 win over Boston College's Sarah Dalton, setting up a battle with Harvard's freshman Crystal Yen.

Ranked 34th nationally by TennisRecruiting.net with a No. 20 RPI, Yen won the D Flight to open the season at the Columbia Invitational. McCallum stayed strong in the first set to claim the tiebreaker and then earned the critical break in the second for the 7-6(5), 6-3 title victory.

Freshman Madison Craft and senior Vivien Laszloffy also moved their way into a Flight final. Craft pulled out a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Harvard's Nicole Blosser but then lost to the Crimson's Amanda Lin, 6-3, 6-3.

Laszloffy dropped just two games in a dominating 6-0, 6-2 win against Harvard's Amy He and was on her way to claiming a second title for BU before having to retire due to injury. She won the first set, 7-5,  against Boston College's Katya Vasilyev when the match had to be called.

The Terriers also had a strong showing from freshman Lauren Davis, who topped BC's Alex Kelleher, 7-5, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the Blue Flight. She only won three games against Harvard's All-Ivy League First Team honoree Hideko Tachibana but rebounded with an identical 6-2, 6-1 win against BC's Heini Salonen, a three-time Finnish National Open champion. 

With the conclusion of the fall season, BU will return to the courts on Sunday, Jan. 20 at home against St. John's.
