Postgame Interviews: Berube | Two BU Men's Soccer Alums

BOSTON - Junior Ben Berube recorded his first career multi-goal performance to lead the Boston University men's soccer team past Rhode Island, 3-0, on Friday night at Nickerson Field. With the win, the Terriers (4-3-1) snap a three-game losing streak, while the Rams drop to 2-5-0 on the season.

Earning their seventh consecutive win over URI, the Terriers dominated possession the entire game and finished with a 21-4 lead in shot attempts with redshirt freshman goalkeeper Brandon Briggs never having to record a single save for the shutout.

Named America East player of the game, Berube put BU on the board first at 23:50 when he rifled a free kick at the top of the box through the defenders. Two brothers connected on the next goal, as sophomore Ade Akinsanya with 12 seconds left in the half kicked in the rebound that resulted from Peyton Warwick stopping senior Temi Akinsanya's shot.

With the assist, Temi recorded his first career point as a Terrier, while Ade posted his first career goal.

In the 59th minute, Berube added the final goal when he fired high toward the far post from the right side of the box after receiving a long pass from senior Ben Havey.

Warwick ended the contest with six saves for the Rams, as the Terriers had a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

BU will next host 20th-ranked Harvard on Sunday (Sept. 26) at 7 p.m.
