RICHMOND, Va. -
Sophomore Stefanie Nunic pulled out a two-set victory at the top singles spot, but No. 24 VCU proved too tough in a 6-1 victory over the Boston University women's tennis team Sunday morning. Concluding a weekend trip in Virginia, the Terriers drop to 7-10, while the Rams improve to 15-3.
VCU swept through doubles action and then won five of the six sets. Nunic prevented the shutout with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Josefin Hjertquist. Freshman Jessi Linero rallied to win a set before falling to Manuela Pietzuch, 7-6(4), 3-6, 10-8, in the No. 6 contest.
The Terriers will have this week off and then will prepare for UMass on Saturday, April 10, at 2 p.m.
