BOSTON - For the second consecutive game, junior Aaron O'Neal scored two goals, as the 14th-ranked Boston University men's soccer team defeated Providence College, 3-0, on Monday night at Nickerson Field. Senior keeper Hrafn Davidsson just needed two saves for the shutout, helping the Terriers improve to 2-0-1 and dealing the Friars (2-1-0) their first loss of the season.

After several minutes of play in which neither team applied pressure on the offensive end, senior Samuel Appiah put the Terriers in the lead for good at 18:18 with a score off an assist from sophomore Ben Berube.

Just five minutes later at 23:15, the America East player of the game O'Neal added another goal by rifling a shot toward the far post from the left wing just outside the box following quick passes from Berube and Bustamante.

Providence outshot BU, 12-9, but never really threatened, as the Friars only managed two shots on goal the entire contest with both coming in the first half.

O'Neal sealed the deal at 77:28 when Bustamante passed a few yards away from the left corner through defenders to the middle of the box for him to knock in for his second multi-goal performance of the season.

The Friars' keeper Timothy Murray entered the game not giving up a goal in 180 minutes of play before the Terriers put up three on the board against him.

BU edged Providence in corners, 7-5, and only committed three fouls against the Friars' 13.

The 3-0 wins against then-No. 12 UConn and Providence mark the most goals scored in two consecutive games by the Terriers since the beginning of 2007 when they tallied three against Northeastern and four against Fordham.

Their three-game unbeaten streak will be tested Friday (Sept. 11) at Harvard with the start time set for 4 p.m. Last year at Nickerson Field, the Terriers earned a 5-1 victory, the largest win by BU against the Crimson in a rivalry that dates back to 1951.
