BOSTON - On Friday night, Terrier fans packed The Roof as the anticipation of the upcoming basketball season loomed in the air. More than one thousand BU students, faculty, staff and alumni crammed into the crowded gym for the annual TERRIER TIP-OFF event. With spotlights shining, speakers booming and a large projector screen showcasing highlights from the previous season, the stage was set for a night that Terrier Nation would long remember.
The Drum Line entered with a boom, kicking off the night's festivities. Highlights of the event included the first look at both men's and women's basketball teams; the BU Band's rendition of "Hey! Baby"; the Dance Team's high-energy routines; the Cheerleaders' stunts; and the unforgettable routine performed by youth Hip-Hop dance group Lil' Phunk.
The winning Qdoba Shootout team included women's basketball freshman Kasie Carbacio and men's basketball sharp shooter Corey Lowe along with a student that they picked out of the crowd. To end the night, junior Carlos Strong defeated newcomer Jake O'Brien in the much anticipated Dunk Contest, though senior Christine Kinneary put on a memorable performance with her one dunk.
One student also won two free JetBlue vouchers by teaming with Dean Stacey Gotnick to defeat another student teamed with Dean Kenn Elmore in a shootout.
This is the second straight year that the Department of Athletics has hosted TERRIER TIP-OFF, which can be seen in its entirety for free online here.
