Case Gym – "The Roof"

DIRECTIONS

Case Gymnasium, otherwise known as "The Roof", has served as the home of Boston University basketball since 1972. It has an 1,800-seat capacity with theatre-sized chairback seats on both sides.

Appropriately, The Roof sits above Walter Brown Arena. Throughout its history, it has provided an intimidating home-court advantage.

The women's basketball program began play during the 1975-76 season, its first as a varsity program. In 2007-08, for the first time in program history, the Terriers went undefeated at Case Gym, winning all 11 contests. One year later, they went a perfect 16-0 in the America East and claimed their first-ever postseason victory with a 79-60 win over Central Connecticut State in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). The 2012-13 squad also recorded notable accomplishments at The Roof with a 66-49 upset win over then No. 17/15 St. John's and WNIT First Round victory over Sacred Heart.

Having captured the 1997 and 2002 America East championships in Case Gym, the men have achieved tremendous success at The Roof. They claimed their first home postseason victory against Morehead State during the quarterfinals of the 2010 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and used that experience to earn another America East title in 2011. During the 2019-20 season, the Terriers went 12-3 at The Roof en route to their first Patriot League tournament title.

Fans who come to a game at The Roof will also be treated to energizing performances from the BU Spirit Squads, which is made up of the Dance Team, Cheer Team, Pep Band and beloved mascot Rhett.

BUDT competes in the Division I Dance and Hip Hop categories at the NDA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. In 2014, the team won the Division I Hip Hop National Championship and later followed up in 2016 by winning the Division I Team Performance National Championship.

BU Cheer competes regionally and nationally as well at the Division I All-Girl level, including the NCA National Collegiate Cheerleading Championship held in Daytona Beach. In 2018, the team placed fourth, the program's best finish yet.

With a song list of over 100 classic and current tunes, the BU Pep Band is a high-energy, powerful ensemble beloved by the teams and fans alike. The Pep Band is also an integral part of the “Dog Pound” student fan section.

A national celebrity, Rhett has been seen on ESPN, CBS, CBS Sports Network, CNN and NESN. Rhett was named an All American mascot in 1996 and placed fourth in the National Mascot Championships in 2002.
