Former BU Head Coach Selected to Lead Detroit Pistons

Former Boston University men's basketball head coach John Kuester has been hired as the new head coach of the Detroit Pistons, the organization announced Thursday morning. The former Cleveland Cavalier assistant was the youngest coach in Division I when he led the Terriers during the 1983-84 and 1984-85 seasons.

Burks-Wiley Signs Contract with BC ICIM Arad

Jesyka Burks-Wiley ('09) of the Boston University women's basketball team has signed a professional contract with BC ICIM Arad, a Romanian team in the Eurocup league, for next fall. Burks-Wiley, the 2009 America East Player of the Year and a Region I finalist for the 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team, will start training with the squad on Aug. 1.

The Terrier Twelve: No. 1 - String of Late Rallies Lifts Men's Ice Hockey to Fifth NCAA Title

Coming in at the top spot of this year's Terrier Twelve is the men's ice hockey team's thrilling run to the 2009 NCAA title - the fifth in the storied program's history. In addition to winning every tournament they competed in, the Terriers swept all three major national awards. Senior Matt Gilroy became the second BU player to win the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, freshman goaltender Kieran Millan was the HCA National Rookie of the Year and head coach Jack Parker won the Spencer Penrose Award.

Four Terriers Named America East Scholar-Athletes

Four Boston University student-athletes from the winter and spring seasons have earned America East Scholar-Athlete Awards, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Seniors Andrea Walkonen of the women's indoor track and field team, Andre Watson of the men's swimming and diving team, Matt Wolff of the men's basketball team and junior Emily Munday of the women's swimming and diving team were each honored as the top scholar-athlete in their respective sports.
