
Gardner, Hassan Earn All-Conference Honors

Senior forward Kevin Gardner and freshman guard Corey Hassan each were named to all-America East teams announced Friday morning. Gardner was named first team all-conference for the first time in his career. He averaged 13.5 ppg (10th in the America East) and 7.5 rpg (second), while shooting 51.8% (fourth) from the field. It’s the 22nd time a Terrier has been named to the first team and it marks the fifth consecutive season the Terriers have been represented on the all-league team.
Hassan was named to the America East all-Rookie team, BU’s first selection since 2002. Hassan averaged 11.5 ppg (15th in the America East) and 2.33 3-pointers per game (third). Rashad Bell and Chaz Carr (2002) are the last Terriers to earn all-Rookie status. Hassan was named America East Rookie of the Week four times in 2005-06.
Albany’s Jamar Wilson was named America East Player of the Year, while Hartford’s Larry Harrison was named the league’s Coach of the Year. Vermont’s Mike Trimboli was named Rookie of the Year, and Binghamton’s Sebastian Hermanier was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Voting was conducted by the league’s nine head coaches.
BU takes on Vermont in the first round of the America East Tournament Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., in Binghamton, N.Y.
