PRINCETON, N.J. - Esmeralda Negron and Emily Behncke scored second-half goals to lead 20th-ranked Princeton to a 2-0 win over the Terrier women's soccer team on Monday night, Oct. 13.
The victory kept Princeton (8-1-2) undefeated at home this season at 5-0 and snapped BU's eight-game unbeaten streak. The Terriers, who had gone 5-0-3 in their last eight, fell to 6-4-4 overall.
Negron scored the first goal of the night seven minutes into the second half when she took a cross from Janine Willis and sent it past Terrier goalkeeper Jessica Clinton. It was the ninth goal of the season for Negron and the 23rd of her career, which moved the junior into fifth-place all-time at Princeton.
Behncke, who was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year last season, finished the scoring 22 minutes later when she took a cross from Kristina Fontanez and scored her sixth goal of the season.
Clinton had five saves for the Terriers, while Madeline Jackson had two saves en route to earning the shutout.
It marked the final non-conference game of the season for the Terriers who have six matches left, all of which are against America East teams. The stretch begins on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Albany for a 3:00 p.m. match.
