ALBANY, N.Y. - Freshman Dominique Badji's goal in the 67th minute propelled the Boston University men's soccer team past Albany, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers (8-7-0, 4-1-0 America East) have now won four straight conference contests. Albany (4-7-3, 0-2-3 AE) is now winless in its last eight games.
BU opened its account thanks to a brilliant cross from senior Stephen Knox in the 13th minute. Classmate Ben Berube was on the receiving end of the ball, and he headed it home for the 1-0 lead. It was Berube's first goal of the season, while Knox earned his first assist of the year.
Brandon Wilson evened the score at 1-1 in the 30th minute when he put the ball into the left side of the net, past Terrier keeper Nick Thomson. Jeff Pierre assisted on Wilson's strike.
Badji gave BU the 2-1 lead when he capitalized on a cross from Berube in front of the net. The goal was Badji's fourth of the season, which ties him with Knox for the team-lead.
The Great Danes only put three shots towards the target, with Thomson making two saves. Albany keeper Adrian Foncette made three saves.
The Terriers will return to Boston for their final regular season game at Nickerson Field on Wednesday night, as BU will welcome New Hampshire for Senior Night. First whistle is scheduled for 7 p.m.
