Groll Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Track & Field Team

GREENWOOD, IN. - Senior Matti Groll of the Boston University men's track & field team was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2016-17 Men's Track & Field Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
Groll made the squad for the second-straight year after maintaining a 3.91 grade point average as a biomedical engineering major.
Groll was also impressive on the track during his senior season. Groll helped the Terriers break a school record that stood for 10 years in the distance medley relay, crossing the finish line in 9:41.23 at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational. He also won the Patriot League Indoor title in both the 1000 meter run and the distance medley relay as a senior.
The Scottsdale, Ariz. native was named the Patriot League Corvais Indoor Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year in both 2016 & 2017 and received All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in 2016.
This past May, Groll was awarded the Boston University E. Ray Speare Award, given annually to the senior who is the top male scholar athlete, combining academic achievement and athletic ability.
