Forsbacka Karlsson, Bruins Agree to Three-Year Entry-Level Contract

BOSTON - Sophomore center Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League, it was announced by Bruins general manager Don Sweeney on Sunday.
Forsbacka Karlsson, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, elected to forgo his final two seasons of NCAA eligibility and make the jump to the NHL two years after the Bruins selected him in the second round (45th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
This past season, Forsbacka Karlsson served as an assistant captain for the Terriers and put up 33 points on 14 goals and 19 assists along with a plus-11 rating. He led the team in both faceoff percentage (.588) and faceoff wins (527). His top performance of the year came against Union on Jan. 5 when he recorded a hat trick, including the game-tying goal and the overtime winner.

A 2015-16 Hockey East All-Rookie Team member as a freshman, Forsbacka Karlsson finishes his time at BU with 63 career points (24g, 39a) in 78 games.
Forsbacka Karlsson joins two former BU teammates in the Bruins organization as classmate Charlie McAvoy started his professional career last week and Matt Grzelcyk is finishing up his first season with the Providence Bruins. Grzelcyk made his NHL debut earlier this season and Forsbacka Karlsson will become the 80th Terrier to reach the NHL when he makes his debut.
