BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team will welcome four new Terriers for the upcoming 2017 season, head coach Nancy Feldman announced Wednesday. Anna Heilferty (Va.), Amanda Fay (N.H.), Kiana Ghamarifard (Calif.) and McKenna Kennedy (Mass.) each hail from a different state and will look to contribute to a program that has earned four straight Patriot League tournament final appearances with three NCAA berths.
"We are excited to welcome McKenna, Anna, Kiana and Amanda to the BU Women's Soccer family," said Feldman. "What they bring to the team in addition to their individual special qualities is championship pedigree, as all have been leaders of winning and successful high school and club programs. We believe each one is ready to make a contribution to the team over the next four years, as well as make the most of the academic opportunity that Boston University will provide them."
Amanda Fay
One of two New England signees, goalkeeper Amanda Fay (Atkinson, N.H.) will join the Terriers after spending four years with Central Catholic H.S. in Lawrence, Mass. A three-time Eagle-Tribune All-Star and MVC Goalie of the Year, she recorded five shutouts to help lead Central to a 23-0 season and Division I State title this past season. She finished with 29 goals allowed in 60 games for a 0.49 goals against average and was just one of two keepers from the Eastern U.S. to participate in the Top Drawer Soccer All-American Game back on Dec. 3 in North Carolina. Academically, she was a four-year member of the honor roll. Anna Heilferty
A midfielder, Anna Heilferty (Falls Church, Va.) will bring plenty of offensive firepower to the Terriers after she tallied 20 goals and six assists last season while helping Stuart H.S. claim the 2016 State Cup Championship. Besides being a 2016 Washington Post First Team All-Met honoree, she was also a two-time Capitol Conference Player of the Year and recipient of multiple All-State and All-Region accolades. The honors went beyond the field, as she was a four-year honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society.
Kiana Ghamarifard
Kiana Ghamarifard, will make the longest trek to BU from Irvine, Calif. The forward and two-time University H.S. team captain received All-League First Team accolades this past season. She has tallied 34 goals and 42 assists thus far in her high school career. She was also a two-time offensive MVP in high school. At the club level, she helped West Coast FC capture the 2015 ECNL National Championship in Virginia. She also won a pair of Southwest Conference Championship titles. McKenna Kennedy
A native of Milbury, Mass., McKenna Kennedy will join the other three incoming Terriers in bringing championship mettle to the program. In the fall from the midfield, she collected 23 goals and 18 assists to help lead Milbury to its second consecutive Division III State title. The two-time team captain and All-State honoree was named the 2016 Worcester Telegram Player of the Year. She also helped her club NEFC capture the NPL national title the last two years. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society and has received highest honors all four years.
