Bach, Schroeder Secure Weekly Honors from Hockey East
November 20, 2017 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior Victoria Bach and freshman Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team each took home a Hockey East weekly award, the league announced on Monday.
Bach was named Hockey East Player of the Week while Schroeder secured Defensive Player of the Week honors. Both Terriers were instrumental in a weekend sweep of Vermont.
On Friday, Bach scored a career-high four goals as part of a career-best five-point effort as the Terriers defeated the Catamounts, 7-1. She then capped her weekend with a third-period goal in a 3-1 win on Saturday. No other player in the country scored as many goals (5) or had a better plus-minus (+8) over the weekend than Bach. She enters this weekend's slate of games with 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points.
Schroeder was sensational between the pipes for BU en route to earning her first-ever Hockey East weekly award. On Friday, Schroeder made 16 saves in the third period as part of a 25-save performance. She was even better on Saturday, making 35 saves. Seventeen of those saves came in the final 20 minutes as she helped BU kill off five penalties in that frame, including a 6-on-3 UVM power play in the waning moments of the contest. Schroeder leads Hockey East in both goals-against average (1.54) and save percentage (.946) entering this weekend's games.
BU will spend Thanksgiving in Washington, D.C., before facing Minnesota State and No. 1 Wisconsin in a weekend slate of games at the Washington Capitals' practice facility in Arlington, Virginia. BU will face Minnesota State on Nov. 24 before skating against the top-ranked Badgers on Nov. 25.
