Prawdzik Collects Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Accolades
November 13, 2017 | Men's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After backstopping the Boston University men's ice hockey team to a shutout victory over then-No. 9/8 New Hampshire in his first collegiate start, redshirt sophomore Max Prawdzik has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Prawdzik stopped all 29 shots he faced against the Wildcats on Saturday at Agganis Arena, becoming the first BU netminder to earn a shutout in his first collegiate start since Sean Fields just over 17 years ago (Nov. 4, 2000).
On Friday at Northeastern, Prawdzik made his first appearance as a Terrier, playing the final 6:05. In getting the starting nod on Saturday, he became the first Massachusetts native to start in goal for BU since Rick DiPietro in 2000.
This marks the second straight time that a BU player has earned the weekly defensive honor from Hockey East as sophomore defenseman Chad Krys was last week's winner.
