BOSTON - A thrilling college hockey game came down to the final moments on Friday evening as Denver's Troy Terry scored with 16.1 seconds to lift the top-ranked Pioneers past No. 6 Boston University, 4-3, at Agganis Arena.

Sophomore defenseman Dante Fabbro evened the game with 6:39 left in regulation with his second goal of the season as the Terriers erased deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 before ultimately coming up just short. BU now stands at an even 3-3-1 while Denver improves to 3-0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

BU fell into a quick 2-0 hole, as the Pioneers drew a penalty while opening the scoring at 2:51 and then scored again on the ensuing power play just over a minute later.
The Terriers were able to equalize, however, thanks to freshman Ty Amonte's first collegiate goal and a power-play tally from junior Bobo Carpenter.
Denver took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission following Colin Staub's second goal of the opening stanza.
BU got the final power play of the game with 12:23 left in regulation and proceeded to dominate the next six minutes of action before finally being rewarded with Fabbro's marker at 13:21 of the third.
Just when it looked like the teams were headed to overtime, Terry created space in the left circle and before writing a puck past BU netminder Jake Oettinger for the winner.
The Pioneers' first two goals both came off rebounds at the left crease with Jake Durfinger getting the first and Staub potting the second.
Amonte's tally came from the foot of the right circle following a cross-ice pass from senior Drew Melanson.
Carpenter was the beneficiary of a perfect drop pass by junior Jordan Greenway, who quickly gathered a rebound off a left-point shot by sophomore Chad Krys and found his classmate to make it a 2-2 game at 12:38 of the first.
Staub gave the visitors a 3-2 advantage when he registered a power-play goal from the left slot with just 1:32 left in the first.
After nearly 35 minutes without a goal being scored, Fabbro ignited the Agganis crowd when his bid from the high slot beat DU netminder Tanner Jaillet high glove side to draw even once again.

GAME NOTES

BU held a 29-26 shot advantage, including a 23-14 margin in the final two periods.
The Terriers went 1-for-5 on the power play while Denver went 2-of-4.
Carpenter has now scored six goals in the past three goals and all of them have come on special teams (4 PP, 2 SH).
Oettinger made 22 saves for the Terriers and Jaillet picked up the win with a 26-save performance.
Melanson's assist was his first point as a Terrier after tallying 43 points (17g, 26a) in three seasons at Rensselaer.
This marked the first time in Terriers' past five meetings with a No. 1-ranked team that they suffered a loss (2-1-2).
