BOSTON – The No. 1/2 Boston University men's ice hockey team was swept by Merrimack in Hockey East play for the first time ever following a 4-1 home loss to the Warriors on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brett Seney scored Merrimack's first two goals, including the go-ahead tally at 12:51 of the middle period, to help the Warriors complete a sweep of the Terriers.
- The teams traded power-play goals in the opening period with Seney striking first from the right circle at 6:25.
- Just 41 seconds later, freshman Clayton Keller took advantage of an open net on the left side to make it a 1-1 contest.
- Seney gave the Warriors the lead for good with the only goal of the second period.
- Michael Babcock prevented the Terriers from gaining any momentum with a shorthanded goal to make it 3-1 at 5:11 of the third before adding another tally just over four minutes later.
GAME NOTES
- Merrimack is undefeated (3-0-2) the past five times it has faced a BU team that was ranked No. 1 in at least one of the national polls.
- The Terriers held a 37-32 shot advantage as Collin Delia had a 36-save performance to earn the win in goal for Merrimack.
- Freshman Jake Oettinger recorded 28 saves for BU.
- Both teams went 1-of-3 on the power play.
- Keller extended his point streak to 12 games (8g, 11a), which is the longest by a Terrier since Jack Eichel put together a 14-game streak from Feb. 6 – March 27, 2015.
- When Seney scored the eventual game-winner, it marked the first time in 273:17 that Oettinger gave up an even-strength goal.
