BOSTON - Third-period goals from juniors Brandon Hickey and Nikolas Olsson erased a 2-0 deficit and helped the No. 5/6 Boston University men's ice hockey team secure a 2-2 tie with Providence on Saturday night at Agganis Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Olsson assisted on Hickey's second marker of the year with 5:10 remaining in regulation before lighting the lamp himself for the second time this weekend to tie the game with 2:49 to play in the final frame.
- Freshman Patrick Curry had a helper on both Terrier goals while sophomore Charlie McAvoy had the primary assist on Olsson's game-tying strike.
- Freshman Jake Oettinger finished with 30 saves, including 16 in the second period.
- Sophomore Bobo Carpenter nearly sent the crowd home happy with a buzzer-beating goal in overtime, but his shorthanded bid was turned aside by Hayden Hawkey (34 saves) right before the final horn sounded.
- The Friars scored twice in the first period to gain their initial advantage. Scott Conway and Jake Walman provided the scoring and also assisted on each other's goals.
GAME NOTES
- Olsson entered the weekend having not scored since the 2015 Hockey East title game. He now has two goals in the last two games, and has factored on the game-winning or game-tying goal three times this season.
- Curry's two assists were a single-game high and he now has four points (1g, 3a) in his last three games.
- McAvoy has recorded an assist in each of the last three games.
- Oettinger finished the weekend with 68 saves - good for a .958 save percentage and a 1.45 goals-against average.
- The Terriers held Providence to just one goal in eight power-play chances.
- BU remained undefeated against Providence in the three games (1-0-3) that have taken place since the 2015 NCAA title game.
NEXT UP
- BU will head to Vermont for a weekend series against the Catamounts that begins Friday night at 7 p.m.
