Scarpaci Selected as WHEA Rookie of the Week
November 21, 2016 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Breanna Scarpaci of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Scarpaci was instrumental in the Terriers' weekend sweep of Merrimack. She scored her first collegiate goal on Friday night to break a 2-2 tie and spark a five-goal third period that gave BU a 7-3 road win. She then collected her first collegiate assist on Saturday with a helper on Mary Parker's goal that proved to be the game-winner in a 2-0 victory at Agganis Arena.
A native of Washington, Michigan, Scarpaci also blocked a shot and finished the weekend as a plus-1. She was part of a corps of blue liners that held Merrimack to just 48 total shots on goal over the weekend.
BU will return to action on Tuesday night when the Terriers travel to Harvard.
