Contributions provide educational opportunities for the quality young men and women representing Boston University in athletic competition and in the community. BU Athletics rely on these charitable contributions from generous and loyal alumni, fans, family and friends to keep its programs nationally competitive. All donations play a vital role in the continued success of our athletic programs and directly impact the BU experience for our student-athletes. |

| Are gifts to BU Athletics tax deductible? | ||||||||||||||
|
Yes, gifts to BU Athletics for which you receive no benefits are fully tax deductible. If you accept benefits, the tax deductible portion of your gift is equal to the gift amount reduced by the Fair Market Value (FMV) of the benefits received. | What is the Terrier Pride? | ||||||||||||||
|
Terrier Pride is the philanthropic arm of BU Athletics dedicated to supporting excellence in athletics, academics, and community. As an umbrella organization, Terrier Pride provides the opportunity for alumni, parents, students, friends and the entire BU community to support BU's varsity and club student-athletes through annual donations directly to a team's friends fund, through endowed operating funds, and through named athletic scholarships. |

|
The Terrier Pride Annual Fund is a general athletic fund designated to help support the athletic department's areas of greatest need. |

| Can I make a gift to a specific team or program? | ||||||||||||||
|
Yes, you can give directly to your favorite team(s) or program(s) by making a gift to the specified friends fund, which are all listed on the Terrier Pride online giving form. 100% of your gift will go directly to your designated team or program. |

| What methods of giving are available? | ||||||||||||||
|
There are a variety of ways to donate to BU Athletics. Most commonly, gifts are made via cash, checks, stocks, or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express). For more information or to make a gift, you are welcome to call 617-353-3008. |

| Are there other ways to donate to the Athletic Department? | ||||||||||||||
|
Yes, while Terrier Pride is dedicated to providing supports for Boston University's athletic programs, there are many ways and multiple projects to which you can contribute to the advancement of BU Athletics. Gifts in Kind, Endowments, Capital Gifts to Fund Specific Projects, Scholarships and Planned Giving allow you to donate in a variety of ways. | What is a gift-in-kind? | ||||||||||||||
|
A gift-in-kind is a gift of tangible item(s) or service donated to the BU Athletics for related use. You would need to provide BU Athletics with a value for the donated item or service. Please note that it is the donor's responsibility to demonstrate to the IRS how the item was valued. (Example: A set of golf clubs donated to be auctioned at an Athletic Department fundraiser, would count as a donation in the amount of the fair market value.) |

| How can I make a gift of securities? | ||||||||||||||
|
To make a gift of securities, including mutual funds that are held in a brokerage account, please contact Boston University (see contact below). We will work directly with your broker. If you have possession of the stock certificates, mail the unendorsed certificates and a signed stock power to Boston University in separate envelopes. | What is a Planned Gift? | ||||||||||||||
|
Planned gifts provide income and tax benefit to donors while allowing them to individualize ways to support BU Athletics and student-athletes. | Can I pay my gift or pledge in installments? | ||||||||||||||
|
Yes, we are happy to work with you to create a personalized pledge payment schedule that best fits your financial needs. This can be done in a variety of ways. | How much time does it take to process my gift? | ||||||||||||||
|
Terrier Pride collects many gifts made by check and credit card, however, we do not process the gifts. For tax and security purposes, the Boston University's Gifts and Record deposits your checks and charges your credit cards. Due to the volume of gifts received there may sometimes be a slight delay in depositing your gift. The delay may vary based on the season. | I am a Premium Seat holder at Agganis Arena, but does that mean I am a member of the Friends of Men's Ice Hockey? | ||||||||||||||
|
Yes, all premium seat holders are considered members of the Friends of BU Hockey at the "Friends Club" level (may be higher depending on your seating plan). However, a separate philanthropic donation to the Friends of BU Hockey is required in order to be recognized at a higher membership level and/or to receive any Friends of BU Hockey benefits. |

| Can I help support a student-athlete scholarship? | ||||||||||||||
|
Scholarships are vital to our student-athletes succeed in the classroom, athletic competition and the community. By supporting scholarships you are investing in a young student-athlete's education and future. Most athletic scholarships are endowed and named through generous individuals (starting at $100,000); however, there are also opportunities for everyone to support student-athlete scholarships. |

| How much is it to start and name a scholarship? | ||||||||||||||
|
The minimum level to fully endow and name an athletic scholarship at Boston University is $100,000. Scholarships are a terrific venue for you and/or teammates to honor a teammate or coach while investing in a student-athlete's education and future. The Terrier Pride staff will work with you to design the scholarship criteria and gift schedule to your wishes. | Can I support both athletics and my college or major through a scholarship? | ||||||||||||||
|
Yes, donating to a scholarship fund is a terrific way to support both student-athletes and your college at the same time. Creating a scholarship is an individualized process. You will work closely with the Terrier Pride staff to tailor your scholarship according to your wishes. | What are Terrier Pride Loyalty Points? | ||||||||||||||
|
Terrier Pride Loyalty Point Points are used to help reward loyal BU Athletic supporters as fairly as possible. Terrier Pride Loyalty Points are calculated and used to help allocate men's ice hockey tickets that are in high demand. Your points are calculated and accumulated based on the following criteria:

| When should I make my gift in order to count towards my Terrier Pride Loyalty Points? |

|
All gifts received by October 31 will count toward your Terrier Pride Loyalty Points totals for Beanpot and playoff ticket allocations. If you have any questions, please call Terrier Pride 617-353-3008. |

| Can I transfer my Terrier Pride Loyalty Points to another person? | ||||||||||||||
|
Yes, Terrier Pride allows certain loyalty point transfers in order to fairly recognize you and your family's support of BU Athletics. These point transfers enables you to pass your points and seats down through generations. We allow married couples to link their loyalty points as joint supporters. We also permit a onetime transfer from parents to children provide that both parties are current supporters. Please note that loyalty points cannot be transferred to other individuals including, but not limited to non-related persons or siblings. Please note that this transfer is irreversible.
