CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Senior Nikki Long of the Boston University women's cross country team was named Patriot League Female Runner of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Long finished third in the season-opening Nassaney Invitational at Bryant on Saturday. She had a time of 18:02.5, less than 10 seconds behind the winner. Long improved 39 spots from her 42nd-place finish at last season's event.

The Fort Collins, Colo., native is the first BU harrier to receive a weekly award from the Patriot League this season. The Terriers will have a weekend off before they travel to Central Conn. State on Sept. 21 to compete at the Ted Owen Invitational.
