Top-Seeded Women's Tennis Captures Fifth Consecutive America East Title
BURLINGTON, VT -- The top-seeded Boston University women's tennis team earned its fifth straight America East title as it defeated second-seeded Delaware, 6-0, in the title match at the Patrick Gymnasium Courts. B.U., which has won 10 championships in the 11 years of the America East Championships, now earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Championships, which start the weekend of May 15-16. The Terriers took all six singles matches in straight sets to clinch the victory against the Fightin' Blue Hens. As a result, the doubles competition was not played. Senior Jen Momii (Torrance, CA) earned the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player honor and Lesley Sheehan was named as the league's Coach of the Year for the third time - 1989 and 1996 - in her 14-year career.
