Women's Tennis Drops Three Weekend Matches In The Old Dominion State
The Boston University women's tennis team traveled to Virginia for three weekend matches. Despite some strong individual efforts, the Terriers lost all three matches. The Terriers began their road trip on Friday, March 26 against a strong Virginia team. B.U. lost all six singles matches in straight sets to the Cavaliers. Since Virginia clinched the team victory by winning every singles match, the afternoon's doubles matches were canceled. The next afternoon, the Terriers battled Old Dominion to a hard-fought 5-4 loss. The teams split the six singles matches, however the Monarchs proved to be too strong by winning two of the three doubles competitions. Carrie Rose, Mary Granger, and Karen Shostakovsky paced the Terriers with straight-set wins in the no. 4, 5, and 6 singles spots, respectively. The duo of Jennifer Momii and Rose captured the no. 3 doubles match with an 8-2 victory. The Terriers concluded their southern swing with a 6-1 loss to the University of Richmond on Sunday. Shostakovsky was the lone winner for the Terriers at the no. 6 singles spot. In no. 2 singles position, Christina Causway lost to Richmond's Elizabeth Cascarilla in a three-set thriller by a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. B.U. returns to action on Saturday, April 3 at Dartmouth. The match starts at 12 p.m.
