BOSTON - The Boston University women's tennis team continued its fall season with a trip to New York to compete in the National Tennis Center College Invitational held at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. from Oct. 6-8.

Along with BU, Boston College, NC State, Washington State, Texas A&M, Harvard, Dartmouth, Brown, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Cornell, Pennsylvania, Columbia, St. Johns, Long Island, Rutgers, Army and Penn State were invited to compete at the site of the US Open.

The doubles teams of junior Yana Sadovskaya (Riga, Latvia) and sophomore Elizabeth Corrao (Holden, Mass.) defeated teams from Washington State, Penn State and Princeton to make it to the semifinals of Flight B doubles. Seeded No. 7, freshman Vanessa Steiner (Hampton, Va.) and sophomore Francine Whu (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned a berth in the quarterfinals of Flight A doubles after downing Ivy League opponents from Harvard and Penn.
