Women's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day with 7-0 Win over Albany

BOSTON - Competing in its final home match of the season, the Boston University women's tennis team swept Albany, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Track and Tennis Center. Snapping a three-match losing streak, the Terriers improve to 6-9, while the Great Danes dropped to 8-9.

The contest marked Senior Day for Monika Mical, Stefanie Nunic and Petra Santini. A two-time America East Player of the Year, Nunic has been hampered by injuries most of her final season and was unable to play, but she was not needed on the court, as the Terriers dropped just three games in doubles and a combined 14 games in six singles matches for the dominating victory.

Junior Vivien Laszloffy led the way at the top singles spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Livia Gherman. Freshman Sami Lieb was perfect in the No. 4 slot against Sarah Iannone, 6-0, 6-0.

Santini, junior Jessi Linero and sophomore Amelia Martinez all dropped just three games in their respective singles match, while Mical posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Kirsten Scott at No. 2.

During doubles action, BU earned shut out wins at No. 2 and 3 before completing the sweep witn an 8-3 victory at the top spot.

The Terriers will next play at UMass on Thursday (April 5) with action slated to begin at 2 p.m.
