Dejan Stankovic returns to the Boston University women's tennis staff for his fifth season. He came to BU after a four-year career at St. Bonaventure.
During his time with the Terriers, the women have posted a record of 61-41 for a .598 winning percentage. In 2008-09 with his help recruiting and coaching, BU finished 59th in the nation after defeating three nationally-ranked teams, including then-No. 52 VCU and No. 73 Boston College.
TennisRecruiting.net has ranked each of the last five recruiting classes in its top-25 mid-major poll. One of the student-athletes is two-time America East Player Stefanie Nunic, who was named the ITA Northeast Player to Watch for the 2011-12 season.
While at St. Bonaventure, Stankovic played primarily in the middle of the line up each season and tallied a 20-12 singles record as a freshman, earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors twice that season. He played in the ITA Regionals as a sophomore. Prior to his collegiate career, Stankovic was nationally ranked in Canadian Juniors.
He has competed in professional tennis tournaments in Canada and the U.S. while also teaching at several Canadian summer tennis camps.
Stankovic received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from St. Bonaventure in May of 2007, graduating magna cum laude. He graduated in the spring of 2010 witha master's degree in the School of Education in counseling with a focus on coaching and is now pursuing a Ph.D.
